Funding Success for the hall !

The hall has over the last two weeks been successful in not one but two funding bids.

Firstly Lafarge Tarmac at Cauldon Lowe have donated £150 towards a much needed sound system. Needless to say we are very grateful to the company.

A spokesperson from the company said ‘Lafarge Tarmac are delighted to help Kingsley Village Hall with the purchase of their new sound system’

Then the Co-operative Membership Community Fund have awarded us £1300 to refurbish the old toilet block as it is in need of some TLC. In addition the work will open up the what was the gents toilet and improve the ease of access. This will in turn allow us to use a small meeting room with in the hall itself.

Again we are thrilled at the award and hope to start work soon!

Dates for your diary !

The committee are pleased to announce a number of events to be held at the hall towards the end of the summer and into the autumn.

First up is a concert by well renowned acoustic duo Breeze and Wilson.

They will be performing at the hall on Friday 26th September.

Tickets will be reasonably priced at £5 a head and will be on sale towards the end of August.

Its a bit of a homecoming concert for Toby Wilson as he was born in Foxt and went to St Werghburgh’s school as a child.

Lastly the hall will be repeating its Christmas Lights event with an event better one this year which will be held on Friday 5th December – again more details in due course.

Just as the weather has turned and we have had some lovely sunny days the committee from the Gardeners Association have released this years programme.

Many people will have had a copy pushed through the door but if you have not had a copy or want another one is attached to this post.

It gives lots of detail including all the categories you can enter and also an entry form to fill in before the day itself. There is plenty of choice for young and old.

Great British Fry Up !

Saturday 19th April saw the hall’s committee putting on its first ever Easter Breakfast.

Over forty people attended the hall for a traditional English breakfast served by the committee and expertly cooked by treasurer Sue Parry.

Local children were able to do some craft work and everyone was able to find out about the annual Gardeners Association Show from Kelly Shenton. Also in attendance were Mike and Trisha Byford from Hazles Cross Farm Nursery who hold the national collection of Hellebores.

Said Chair Martyn Hordern ‘it was a bit like ‘hell’s kitchen’ for a while as it was all hands to the pumps to cope with demand, everyone had a great time and we raised a bit  of money for the hall’

He added ‘we have had calls for it to be done on a regular basis and we shall certainly do it again’

Pictured are some of the committee and villagers enjoying their breakfasts, local children doing crafts plus the local gardeners association.

The hall’s next project is a like acoustic duo in September. More details will be announced in due course but we are hoping for it to be equally as successful as Saturday’s event.
