To try and give a flavour of what Katie sings I asked her to pen a few lines – I did mention that perhaps some people thought we were having a Little Mix tribute singer or something – here is what she said :
For the first half of the evening, I will be accompanied by a guest accompaniment on keyboards Mr Richard Wheatley.
Richards talents have seen him tour the world with one of the most successful bands of the last decade. He has worked on music for television and performs regularly with various bands and artists across the Country.
I will be performing a collection of well-known songs ranging from the 1950’s – across the decades up to present day. I’m sure there will be something for everyone. Expect timeless ballads, classic country to upbeat disco.

To name but a few but no Little Mix in sight !!! A great night for an even greater cause.
Ticket sales are best described as steady and whilst there are still 6 weeks or so to go to the concert, the lack of interest so far is a concern.
Too often we hear people in the village saying there is nothing going on yet when something is going on its a struggle at times to get support.
The hall is one of only two places in the village where people can come together and the only way we can sustain the hall for future generations is by using it.
Tickets are just £5 each, a bar is being applied for and we have a very talented singer performing for us and it’s in walking distance of all of the village and if you are a bit further afield the buses will still be running when it finishes.

The hall has produced a summer newsletter which is a slight departure from the normal one we do.
It won’t be delivered but is available at the hall from 23rd June (Polling Day) and is available on here.
As well as giving news of what is on at the hall on a regular basis it also details some one-off events that are coming up over the next few weeks.
There is also a plea from the committee for more volunteers – we are operating without a secretary and it also asks if the hall will still be here in five years time.

As we approach the summer holidays there are a number of changes to both the Yoga sessions and Post Office:
Yoga
Lynne has advised us that there will be no session on Monday 20th June and the last class before the summer holidays will be 25th July 2016 with them recommencing in September.
Post Office
The Post Master has advised that due to annual holidays there will be a curtailed service on the following Mondays when the opening times will be 2.45 pm to 4.45 pm :
11th July, 25th July and 1st August.
The Thursday sessions remain unaffected and outside of these date’s the Monday service will be as normal (1245 pm to 4.46
Lastly please note that as the hall is a polling station on Thursday 23rd June the Post Office, Mess Makers and Guides will not be held at the hall.
Following Councillor Fallows generous donation to the hall earlier this year to enable the purchase of paint the committee are looking for local tradesmen to tender to redecorate the main hall, corridors and external wood.
The hall will supply the paint which is being generously discounted by the PPG Industries Group which includes Johnson’s Paint.

The committee is delighted to announce that the hall has been awarded £345 from the EON Action Fund.
The fund is part of the company’s commitment to helping communities better manage their energy consumption and reduce the impact they have on the environment by supporting community energy projects through a grants programme.
The hall’s energy consumption is an ongoing cost not helped by a building that is over 100 years old. The main hall is lit by 6 sets of double fluorescent tubes that are not energy efficient nor cost effective to replace as it requires a scaffold tower to safely reach them safely.
The money will be used to replace the existing tubes some of which are over 10 years old and starting to fail, with modern LED fluorescent tubes. The tubes use around 65% less electricity than standard ones and last around 5 times as long. This means they will last longer meaning less time spent replacing them and use far less electricity as the main hall lights use most of our electrical energy costs.
Overall the change will save the hall £4,000 over the lifetime of the tubes, savings that will be reinvested into the hall’s upkeep.
Saturday’s breakfast saw a rotten end weatherwise to a great day. It was lovely to see so many people young and old at the hall. Nice to see some old friends and also to make some new ones.
All in all a great morning. We did around 40 breakfasts and made a great amount from the raffle alone. Thanks to everyone for coming and supporting the hall – if you bought some free range eggs hope you enjoy them for your breakfast tomorrow as you clearly did today !
